Medical laboratory technicians perform routine laboratory tests in blood banks, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and urinalysis laboratories under direct supervision of a medical technologist or laboratory supervisor. These tests are used to develop the information needed by physicians in determining the presence, cause, and extent of diseases in patients.
