About

The North Carolina Business & Occupational License Database, also known as ‘NCBOLD,’ is a service of the North Carolina Department of Commerce. We offer this searchable database to help you find information about the many business, occupational, and privilege licenses in our state and the organizations that issue and regulate them.

Our database provides valuable information such as:

  • The organization or agency which issues the license.
  • Contact information for those organizations.
  • Requirements of the license.
  • Links to license applications and inter-state licensing reciprocity.

Pages from the database can be bookmarked for future reference.

NCBOLD data is collected annually by the associated agencies, boards, and commissions as called for by North Carolina law. We offer business license data to assist current and potential businesses to start or expand within North Carolina. Occupational data is used in career exploration, workforce applications, and is also incorporated into the state’s career website, NCCareers.org.
