Cytotechnologists detect cell changes caused by disease processes. They screen human cell samples under the microscope for early signs of cancer, trace clues to disease in the delicate patterns of the cytoplasm and nuclei that are stained with special dyes. They work under the supervision of a pathologist.
To be eligible for the required examination, an applicant must satisfy the the following: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program within the last 5 years.
