Opticians Interpret Prescriptions Written By An Ophthalmologist Or Optometrist. They Measure, Adapt, Fit And Adjust Lenses, And Dispense Lenses, Spectacles, Eyeglasses, And Contact Lenses To The Intended Wearer To Correct Or Improve Vision.

Other Requirements

Completion of Board Apprenticeship and Internship programs, or substantially-equivalent training and licensure from another state with a minimum required time in practice in the other state. Initial license printing is one-time $100 fee; annual renewal for all LDOs thereafter is $150.

Exemptions

Individuals employed in a doctor's (OD or MD) practice are covered under that doctor's license and are not required to be LDOs.
