No Youth Under 18 Years Of Age Shall Be Employed By Any Employer In Any Occupation Without A Youth Employment Certificate Unless Specifically Exempted. During The Regular School Term, No Youth Under 18 Years Of Age Who Is Enrolled In School In Grade 12 Or Lower May Be Employed Between 11 P.M. And 5 A.M. When There Is School For The Youth The Next Day.

Statute Restricts The Type Of Work That May Be Performed And The Hours That May Be Worked. Employment in hazardous or detrimental occupations is not permitted for youth under the age of 18. For Restrictions, Requirements And Details. Youth 14-15 years of age: Work may be performed in retail businesses, food service establishments, service stations and offices of other businesses. Work is not permitted in manufacturing, mining, on construction sites, with power-driven machinery, on the premise of a business holding an ABC permit for the on-premises sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages, or in hazardous or detrimental occupations.
Agriculture/farm jobs are exempt. Youths Employed As Models, Or As Actors Or Performers In Motion Pictures Or Theatrical Productions, Or In Radio Or Television Productions Are Exempt From All Provisions Of This Section Except The Certificate Requirements. Youths Under 18 Years Of Age Employed By Their Parents Are Exempt From All Provisions Of This Section With A Few Exceptions Listed In This Statute.
