The permit provides a method by which the department knows where exploration work is being conducted; places limits on the maximum size and the required depth of burial of explosives; time of day shooting can occur; requirements for removal of pipe used in geophysical exploration operations; and the minimum distance shot locations can be placed from certain features, vessels and bodies of water.

Application By Letter Must Be Filed At Least 10 Days Prior To Geophysical Operations With The Director Of The Division Of Land Resources. A Detailed Map Must Be Included Showing The Exact Area In Which Exploration Will Be Conducted. A Surety Bond Of $5,000 For One Crew Or $25,000 For More Than One Crew Is Required And The Operator Must Have Public Liability Insurance.
